Micromanagement got so bad I involved HR — here is what happened

HR sided with manager initially. I documented everything with evidence. Manager was moved. Took 3 months. Worth it.

HR mediation only works if you come with documented evidence. Without it, it is your word against the manager's.

The eventual resolution took 3 months as you said. In the meantime keep performing — do not give them a performance reason to dismiss the complaint.
