Panel interview with 4 interviewers at once โ how to manage it

Had my first panel interview last year and nearly shut down completely when I walked in to find four people behind a table. Here's what helped.
Eye contact: Answer the person who asked the question, but sweep eye contact across the panel while talking. Don't lock in on one person โ acknowledge everyone.
Note the dynamics: Often one person leads and others probe specific areas. Identify the decision-maker early โ they usually ask the broader strategic questions.
Pace yourself: With multiple interviewers, there are more questions. Take a breath between them. Don't feel rushed.
Address people by name: If introductions were made, use their names when relevant. "That's a great point, [name]..." goes a long way.
It's still just a conversation: Four people evaluating you can feel more intense, but the content of your answers matters the same way it would with one.
