Home office setup on a RM3,000 budget — exactly what I bought

by Danial Saari·May 22, 2026

Did this 6 months ago. Here's the breakdown, all purchased in Malaysia.

Monitor: RM650
LG 27" FHD IPS from Lazada. Not the fanciest but excellent value. If you do creative work, consider an upgrade here.

Chair: RM900
Officium or equivalent mid-range ergonomic. Don't skimp, you're sitting in this 8+ hours a day.

Keyboard + mouse: RM250
Logitech MK470 combo. Wireless, quiet, reliable.

Webcam: RM280
Logitech C920. Significant upgrade over built-in laptop camera for calls.

Desk lamp: RM120
BenQ screen bar. Makes video calls look much better and reduces eye strain.

Cable management + misc: RM200

Total: RM2,400. Remaining RM600 buffer.

Would I change anything? I'd upgrade the chair next time, the RM900 option is adequate but not excellent.

Notion for wikis, Linear for issues, Slack for comms, Figma for design. Our tech stack is small but each tool is best-in-class for its job.

The tool sprawl problem is real, when every department uses different tools, integration breaks down. Platform consolidation is worth the short-term pain.

Best SaaS I've evaluated for SMEs in Malaysia: Zoho One. The price-to-feature ratio is unbeatable and local support exists.
