Car parking drama at the office โ€” share your worst stories

by Arif RozlanยทMay 21, 2026

Starting this thread because I cannot be the only one who has lost 15 minutes of their life hunting for parking and arrived at a meeting sweating.

My worst: company allocated parking in a basement lot with a height restriction I discovered on my first day with a new SUV. Space was mine, car was too tall. Spent 3 months parking at a mall across the road and paying RM5/day while waiting for a different spot.

Current frustration: the "visitor" parking bays that are permanently occupied by the same staff cars with no visitor sticker enforcement.

What's your worst parking experience? And for anyone who has successfully navigated getting a good company parking spot, how did you do it?

The WhatsApp group my team created for non-work banter is the actual culture-building channel. More genuine connection happens there than in any team event.

Team Slack channels for music recommendations, TV shows, and memes are underrated retention tools. People stay where they feel seen as humans, not just workers.

The danger is when the manager joins the casual group and everyone immediately code-switches. The real banter moves to a side group. Read the room.
