Browser extensions every developer should have in 2025

by Eugene Toh·May 24, 2026

Cleaned up my extension list and kept only what I actually use daily. Sharing the list.

For all developers:
- uBlock Origin: ad and tracker blocking, also speeds up browsing significantly
- Wappalyzer: identifies tech stack of any website you visit
- JSON Formatter: makes raw JSON responses readable in the browser
- Refined GitHub: significant UX improvements to GitHub without changing functionality

For web developers specifically:
- React DevTools / Vue DevTools (whichever you use)
- CSS Peeper: inspect CSS properties visually without opening DevTools
- ColorZilla: color picker for any element on screen

For productivity:
- Vimium: keyboard navigation in the browser (steep learning curve, life-changing if you stick with it)
- Tab Suspender: prevents memory bloat from too many open tabs

Malaysian context: If you're regularly testing local sites, uBlock Origin will also block some aggressive local ad networks that slow everything down.

I was the one always checking on my team and forgot to check on myself. Caregiver burnout — even in a non-medical sense — is real in leadership roles.

Manager wellbeing is a leadership issue, not an HR issue. When managers are struggling, the whole team suffers the downstream effects.

The loneliness of leadership is undertalked about. You carry decisions you can't share with your team. Peer support for managers is a genuine need.
