Job Description
As an Employment Legal Counsel at Alibaba Group, you will advise and guide internal stakeholders on various employment matters throughout the employee lifecycle in the region. Your responsibilities will include providing legal training programs to enhance compliance with employment law, as well as monitoring legislative developments and emerging trends in employment law to offer proactive guidance to the business. This role requires a strong understanding of employment law across multiple jurisdictions and the ability to deliver practical legal advice in a commercial context.
Job Requirements
Law degree and active bar admission/license in one of the SEA countries (required)
Prior experience in both private practice and in-house roles is preferred
Strong substantive knowledge of employment law across multiple jurisdictions
Proven ability to deliver practical, solution-oriented legal advice in a commercial context
Familiar with market best practices and able to identify systemic approaches to recurring legal challenges
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across cultures, seniority levels, and functional teams
Collaborative team player with excellent follow-through
Strong multitasking ability and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
Ability to leverage AI tools to enhance legal service delivery and drive creative solutions
Self-motivated learner with strong intellectual curiosity
Proficiency in Mandarin and other SEA languages is a plus.
