This role is for a Senior Electrical Engineer responsible for providing technical on-site support and organizing work processes to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of electrical equipment across multiple locations in Southeast Asia. The position involves compliance with electrical safety standards, training personnel, managing technical changes, supporting plant management, executing projects, and participating in investigations of equipment failures.
Job Description
The role involves providing primary technical on-site support and organizing work processes to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of electrical equipment at facilities in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and other locations as directed. The position requires ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards, training operation and maintenance personnel, providing technical solutions for electrical equipment operation and troubleshooting, managing technical changes safely, supporting plant management with technical documentation, executing projects and initiatives, and participating in root cause investigations of equipment failures.
Job Requirements
Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with emphasis on high/medium voltage switchgear and motor control center, power transformers, induction motors, variable frequency drives.
Minimum 10 years of work experience in an industrial work environment such as chemical manufacturing facility, petro-chemical, oil refinery, power plant or steel mill.
Special consideration for experience in design and technical specification of heavy power electrical equipment and electrically classified hazardous areas.
High proficiency in medium voltage switchgear troubleshooting with schematic drawings, protection relaying functionality, and circuit breaker operations.
High proficiency in low voltage motor and equipment control and operation from motor control gears in Motor Control Center.
High proficiency in knowledge of electrical equipment and its installation in electrically classified hazardous areas.
High proficiency in low voltage Variable Frequency Drives.
High proficiency in medium voltage motor partial discharge analysis.
High proficiency in root cause analysis techniques and reporting knowledge.
Proficient in induction motor operations, construction, and repairs.
Proficient in electrical network operations and switching philosophies.
Proficient in uninterruptible power supplies.
Proficient in power transformers.
Proficient in electric heaters.
General knowledge of synchronous generator operations.
General knowledge of medium voltage soft-starters and variable frequency drives.
General knowledge of installation methods of electrical equipment.
Independent, self-driven engineer capable of working in a technical supporting role to maintenance and plant management.
Able to travel in Southeast Asia at short notice and occasionally to other Asian countries for support.
Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
Willing to be based in Prai or Shah Alam.
