How SuperJobs calculates its job market data

Quick answer: the "Live on SuperJobs" tables in our guides are calculated from job postings that are live on SuperJobs in the month shown. Pay figures use only the salary ranges employers chose to publish, and each figure shows how many postings it is based on.

Which postings are counted?

Every posting with a public job page on SuperJobs that is not marked closed or expired. A table about an industry counts postings tagged with that industry; a table about internships counts internship postings only.

How is advertised pay measured?

For each posting that publishes a monthly salary range, such as RM3,000 to RM4,000, we take the midpoint of the range (RM3,500). The table then shows three points across those midpoints: the 25th percentile, the median and the 75th percentile. The number after each figure (n) is how many postings it is based on.

  • Internships are excluded from pay figures and reported separately as allowances.
  • Ranges starting below RM1,700, the national minimum wage, are excluded because they are daily or hourly rates, not monthly pay.
  • Ranges above RM30,000 a month are excluded as likely data errors.
  • When fewer than 10 postings publish a range, we show no figure rather than an unreliable one.

How are internship allowances measured?

The same way as pay, using internship postings that publish a monthly allowance range between RM100 and RM10,000.

Which companies are listed?

The five employers with the most matching open roles that have a company page on SuperJobs, with their number of open roles.

How often does the data change?

The figures are fixed for each calendar month (Malaysia time) and recalculated at the start of the next, so a number you quote from a given month stays the same throughout that month.

What the data does not show

Many employers do not publish pay, so the figures describe postings that do. They show advertised pay, not the salary a candidate finally agrees. For national statistics, see the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) Salaries & Wages Survey and Graduates Statistics.
