Back to WFH & Remote
WFH & Remote

My company just ended WFH permanently โ€” anyone else dealing with this?

by Hazwan IbrahimยทMarch 4, 2026

Just got the announcement today. Back to 5 days in office starting April. No explanation given, just "alignment with company direction."

I moved to Rawang 2 years ago because I thought WFH was permanent. My commute will now be 2 hours each way.

Has anyone successfully negotiated a hybrid arrangement after an RTO announcement? What were your arguments? And has anyone just... quit over this?

Also curious โ€” which companies in Malaysia are still genuinely WFH-friendly? Not "flexible" as in you can WFH if you ask nicely, but like actually built for remote.

I quit over an RTO announcement last year. Found a fully remote role within 6 weeks at higher pay. Don't underestimate how much demand there is for remote-willing talent right now.

I successfully negotiated 3 WFH days after RTO was announced. Key was framing it around productivity data โ€” I showed specific output numbers from my WFH period vs office. Made it about business, not comfort.

Companies still fully remote in Malaysia that I know of: Involve.asia, some roles at Agmo Studio, and a few fintech startups. Most have tech roles open. Worth looking if you're serious about not returning to office.
