How often should you check in with your job market value?

by Cynthia Wong·November 7, 2025

At least once a year. Apply passively, 2–3 interviews per year minimum to calibrate. You don't have to accept anything. But you should always know what the market will pay you today.

The passive interview strategy is the cleanest way to maintain your market value without triggering anxiety.

Two or three interviews a year even when happy keeps your skills sharp. Interviewing is a skill that atrophies.
