This position is for a Manager in Systems/Applications Engineering based in Penang, Malaysia. The role involves leading teams that design, integrate, and manage complex systems throughout their life cycles while collaborating with cross-functional groups to ensure high-quality product development. The manager is responsible for overseeing technical solutions, project planning, customer interactions, and maintaining industry standards within a hardware engineering context.
The role is for a Manager in Systems/Applications Engineering responsible for leading and managing employees who design, integrate, and manage complex systems over their life cycles. The position involves working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including engineers, customers, supply chain, and project leadership to ensure robust and high-quality product development, covering aspects such as requirements engineering, reliability, logistics, testing, evaluation, and maintainability. The manager leads the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions in multiple domains, participates in project planning, negotiates customer specifications, promotes industry best practices, and manages relationships with vendors and partners. The role also includes researching system ideas, designing and modifying systems, performing tests and simulations, analyzing data, recommending modifications, and creating documentation. The manager sets yearly plans and goals, provides performance evaluations, and ensures achievement of department targets. The position requires familiarity with hardware architecture concepts and schematics related to components such as clocks, interrupts, DC/DC converters, and buses like SATA, SAS, PCIe, I2C, and SPI. The work environment is a normal office setting with occasional travel and possible weekend or holiday work.
Bachelor degree in electrical or electronics engineering.
Masters degree preferred.
Around 8 years of related experience in similar job roles.
BS/EE with 5+ years of FPGA/CPLD development experience.
Knowledge of FPGA design processes including programming, constraints edit, functional verification, logic synthesis, floorplan and route, timing verification.
Familiarity with hardware description languages VHDL, Verilog HDL, and System Verilog.
Experience with development tools including Xilinx ISE and Altera Quartus.
Experience using simulation tools such as ModelSim SE.
Experience using synthesis tools such as Synplicity Synplify.
Solid Verilog RTL and test bench coding skills with good coding style.
Familiar with at least one mainstream FPGA and development platform, such as Xilinx, Altera, or Lattice.
