Please, please look at honest Glassdoor reviews before you join Uxbridge office. They're all true in particular with the culture and business direction. Most of happy reviews are employees from small sales offices while the central offices are already corrupt. They're controlling most reviews on Glassdoor already but some of them are very true. When you look around the office, you will realise there are so many Japanese expats and senior male local staffs. The managers in product teams are hopelessly bullies, sexists and liars. They treat new joiners like aliens but only trust senior staffs even if there are severe moral issues. If you try to bring your experience and skills to grow Canon's business like you demonstrate during hiring process, I can assure you that you will be bullied and embarrassed by senior staffs. Due to the severe headcount deduction since 2017, you won't be given proper trainings. If you try to learn by yourself and suggest your own ideas, the management will call you 'disrespectful', 'closed-mind' and having collaboration problems. Now you can see new joiners always become scapegoat in this environment. While your manager will not understand what your job is, they have no doubt with themselves and pick up small tiny things over what you actually delivered. Even if you raise your concerns to HR, they are personal assistant of toxic managers. Look up employment tribunals on the gov website. HR leaders have extremely twisted mind and they're stick to their miserable jobs for pension. The management is not interested in your career or wellbeing at all. All they want is obeying anti-social rules (severe micromanagement, 3 days weekly in the office no matter what, you have to nod and be smiley during meetings to prove you're in discussions, act like you're fine even you're sick, talk about your private life, there's always people watching your every single moves in the office...) and do nothing but they give you. They do not expect you to grow business. Just sit before the desk and do minimum paperwork! Why do you need to commute 3 days a week to join Teams meetings in the dead office with no collaborations? Not everyone has wives at home all the time and they do anything for yourself. If you're a woman, these harassment will be more severe. This is an old boys club. They exclude any differences/individualities/uniqueness and only welcome old men waiting for pension. That's why there is no women in the departments/positions impact on sales directly. You'll go to the office to watch if your line manager's mood on the day and spend a whole day to make him happy, not for business growth. This company does not commit to any changing. The leadership do not believe the value of investment and they push sales offices to squeeze up their sales with no strategy, no budget and no plan. Their excuse is always 'we're too big to change quickly'. If you're professional, you know many companies bigger than Canon Europe are committed to changing and innovation. There are two types of employees in this company. People who notice there's something weird with the management and change career within a few months - 2 years. Or you learn giving up and feel comfortable with easy box ticking job stay here until retirement. Maybe your royalty will be rewarded if you sacrifice your fairness and feel comfortable to control junior staffs. Also, the company's benefits are salary sacrifice including private medical insurance, critical illness cover and child care. (You can see they only care about senior staffs with the fact that they recently added 'ageing care' to the benefit.) The office location is terrible too. If you have to use public transport, it's not possible to balance your life. (30min walk from the nearest train stations) The canteen's food is overpriced and taste horrible. No social events. The company has paused performance reviews related to promotions currently. Besides, there is restructuring every two years. Certain amount of innocent employees are dismissed to cover the management's mistakes.
