While I was still working at Canon, I believed that there was only one good aspect to life at Canon Europe: the very international working environment. At one time the office in Amstelveen, located just outside of Amsterdam, had been the European Headquarters for Canon. During this time, there were employees from all over Europe who had come to work for Canon. This made work interesting, and it was a great way to boost one's teamworking ability and interpersonal skills. After I left Canon and returned to my home country, I realized that having worked for Canon opened doors to positions and companies that I would not otherwise have expected to be contacted by. This was the biggest pro in the end.
Management. Some of the worst management I had ever seen up to that point in my career. Working with apathetic people who were just keeping the chair warm until their holidays. An environment that sucked the life out of you (and everyone around you), so that all that was left was apathy and waiting for holidays.

- Canteen - Office building in a nice park - Some nice people
- Poor managers - Absolutely no development opportunities - No diversity and inclusion - Top team are middle aged men from Japan - More than old-fashioned culture - Due to cost savings a lot of positions are not getting replaced which ends up in double the work for no more money - Hierarchical structure - Every decision is taking by Japan for EMEA - Low salary or if you negotiated a good one, then no salary increase for years - Control culture - HR not existing
