Voyager program
you get to be a manager straight out of college. you get decent money straight out of school. They pay for your travel. You get a good discount at hotels.
-work life balance is terrible -you get the worst shifts because you are on the bottom -After covid hotels have been understaffing to make more money so you will feel unsupported and burned out at times. -you might only be a manager in tittle and not in practice -Your training depends on who your leader is and many don't even know what the voyager program is so its not exactly the immersive learning experience they sell you.
Housekeeper
Good for money and experience
All is good and fun
Host
Great first job for students.
Not a well paying job but a fair paying job
Server
There are good customers and staff
We have our slow seasons around November and December.
Banquet captain
Great company to work for.
Management changes often in my hotel.
Food and beverage manager
Great place to work. Enjoyed it.
Working weekends and odd hours but such is the life in hospitality
Sales
The pro is, this is a job where you get paid
Working here will break your spirit in ways you'll never recover. They are corrupt, useless and abusive. The managers themselves create a horrible environment, they want you scared and paranoid. It's almost a miracle this place hasn't been shut down for violation of morals and ethics. I've seen horrific prosecution of average decent employees when their LEADERS are facing allegations of corruption. The office is nasty (toilets dont work, looks so old no matter how hard they try to make it groovy). HR is incompetent too (objectively very little qualifications and no sensitivity nor skills). Managers are another breed of a lowlife. Dirty, nasty place to work for. My advise: please please please dont do this to your life. And if you do, have a clear plan to leave, dont let them break you.
Guest relations
So far I have had the best health benefits with different options to choose from.
Companies got their own problems so for a company in the hospitality business there should be enough staff especially when it is busy.
Anonymous employee
Being able to cross train in different departments, days off back to back, PTO
Absent boss, manager that plays favorites and doesn't listen or do anything about problems
Senior hr manager
The benefits are nice to have.
The opportunities they had were limited in my field.
