I do not recommend to work at SGS from employee point of view. As a TIC company, employees are often perceived as being valued primarily for their ability to generate revenue, while employee well-being does not appear to receive attention from management. From high management, there is strong emphasis on continuous (and unrealistic) increase on the output, while no support on development or growth on the employee. Project scheduling is frequently experienced as unrealistic, with tight timelines imposed by centralized scheduling teams, that demands to work extra time. Even in critical sectors, there appears to be limited emphasis on work quality compared with speed and cost. It appears to foster an unhealthy workplace culture overall, despite the efforts of SGS to promote a positive image on social media. There is limited genuine care or investment in employee well-being, and warning signs of risky or inappropriate/unethical behaviors are often overlooked rather than addressed. If you are looking for a company that values its employees, prioritizes well-being, and maintains high professional standards, I would not recommend this place.
Anonymous employee
Easy process NO other pros
LOW SALARY Unclear package (Intentional)
Auditor
nice colleagues, collaborative work culture
Strict work from office policy
Lab technician
Generally relaxed environment with easy-going management.
Implicit expectation you stay for overtime, as work is rarely done by the time the day ends. If you're not interested in working in a lab, this is not the place for you.
Customer service representative
not applicable N/A N/A N/A
Insufficient teammates, always need to work for long hours No paid OT
Lots of travel and kept busy.
Very little training. No management support. No team culture.
Welding technologist
- Lots of competent and well trained Welding Engineers and Technologists - Lots of work - Company encourages growth and pays for your professional fees / dues and training
- low paying wages - long extra hours - work sometimes becomes too repetitive and tedious
Laboratory technician
Learnt a lot about NATA and QA requirements, and gained experience on a variety of intruments
Managment do not care about employee wellbeing. Low pay, long hours, no overtime. Laboratory environment is depressing, and it shows amongst the employees who are trapped there.
