Job Description

The Director of Sales and Marketing serves as the leader of the property's sales department for properties with bookings exceeding 300 peak rooms and significant local catering revenue. This role manages both proactive and reactive sales efforts, provides daily leadership to sales associates to achieve sales objectives, and is responsible for meeting booking goals and property revenues. The position oversees marketing budget management, development of property-specific campaigns, and works closely with regional marketing communications to implement brand strategies and initiatives.

Job Requirements

Education of a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 4 years experience in sales and marketing or related area, or a 4-year bachelor's degree with 2 years experience in sales and marketing or related area.

Preferred qualifications include a 4-year college degree, demonstrated skills in supervising a team, lodging sales experience, and hotel industry work experience showing progressive career growth and strong performance.

Ability to manage strategic sales plans and reactive and proactive sales efforts.

Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with sales channels and external partners.

Skills in managing marketing budgets and developing campaigns and promotions.

Experience in leading a sales team and coaching revenue-generating departments.

Knowledge of Marriott's brand service standards and operational sales processes.

Capability to build and maintain customer relationships and community partnerships.

Leadership skills in talent development, recruitment, and performance management.

Compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and partnership with HR and other departments.
