The Director of Sales and Marketing functions as the leader of the property's sales department for properties with bookings over 300 peak rooms and significant local catering revenue. This role manages both reactive and proactive sales efforts and provides day-to-day leadership to sales associates to achieve property sales objectives with overall responsibility for booking goals and property revenues. The position involves implementing the brand's service strategy and initiatives, building long-term customer relationships, evaluating participation in various sales channels, managing the marketing budget, and coordinating with regional marketing communications.
A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 4 years experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area, OR a 4-year bachelor's degree in such fields with 2 years of relevant experience.
Preferred qualifications include a 4-year college degree, demonstrated skills in supervising a team, lodging sales experience, and hotel industry work experience with progressive career growth and exceptional performance.
Ability to manage a sales department and develop strategic account plans.
Capability to lead and coach a sales team to meet booking goals and revenue objectives.
Skills in marketing communication and customer intelligence evaluation.
Experience working with multiple sales channels and regional marketing teams.
Strong relationship-building skills with local organizations and internal stakeholders.
Leadership skills for developing sales goals, training, and talent acquisition.
Knowledge of compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as related to the role.
Ability to manage budgets for marketing campaigns and promotions.
