Job Description

The Director of Events at Sheraton Kota Kinabalu oversees the entire Event Management function, including Event Planning, Banquets/Catering, Event Service, and Event Technology. This role is responsible for implementing the brand's service strategy and initiatives, ensuring seamless execution of property events with smooth coordination between sales and operations. The position focuses on meeting customer needs, ensuring employee satisfaction, growing event revenues, and maximizing the department's financial performance.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or GED with 4 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related field, or a 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major with 2 years experience in the event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area.

Strong leadership skills to manage and hold event management teams accountable for service delivery and departmental goals.

Ability to manage event operations, budgets, and ensure compliance with sanitation standards and corporate guidelines.

Skilled in creating an atmosphere that meets or exceeds guest expectations and consults customers to determine event objectives and requirements.

Experience in developing event management strategies aligned with business goals and leading their execution.

Capability to manage profitability by generating incremental revenue and establishing relationships with outside vendors.

Knowledge of human resources compliance and ability to manage staffing and ensure communication across event operations.

Ability to analyze market competition regarding products, pricing and services.
