This role is for a Director of Sales & Marketing at a hotel responsible for leading the sales team and developing sales and marketing strategies to achieve booking and revenue targets. The position involves managing sales efforts, overseeing marketing budgets, and fostering relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the hotel's objectives.
The Director of Sales & Marketing serves as the leader of the propertys sales department for properties with bookings over 300 peak rooms and significant local catering revenue. This role manages both reactive and proactive sales efforts and provides day-to-day leadership to sales associates to achieve property sales objectives, booking goals, and revenue targets. The position also involves developing and implementing property-wide sales and marketing strategies, managing the marketing budget, and fostering strong relationships with internal stakeholders, local organizations, and customers to support the hotel's business objectives and brand initiatives.
A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 4 years of experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area, or a 4-year bachelor's degree in the aforementioned fields with 2 years of relevant experience.
Preferred qualifications include a 4-year college degree, demonstrated skills in supervising a team, lodging sales experience, and hotel industry work experience showing progressive career growth and exceptional performance.
Ability to manage sales activities including strategic account planning, sales strategy meetings, and evaluation of market position.
Strong skills in building successful relationships with local organizations, internal stakeholders, and customers, including participating in tradeshows and client events.
Leadership capabilities to develop sales goals and strategies, coach revenue-generating teams, manage compliance with regulations, and collaborate with Human Resources for talent management.
Experience in managing marketing budgets and implementing brand service strategies in the sales process.
Effective communication and customer service skills to advocate for customers and maintain long-term, value-based customer relationships.
