Role Summary

The Internship Chambering Student (Pupil) is responsible for supporting legal professionals in various tasks related to legal documentation and research. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic legal environment while assisting with essential legal processes.

Job Description

The day-to-day work involves drafting legal documents, conducting research, and assisting lawyers during hearings and trials. Interns will also engage in client meetings and manage correspondences, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the legal field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft legal documents such as affidavits, cause papers, letters, and simple agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare research notes or case summaries.
  • Assist lawyers during hearings and trials.
  • File documents through the e-filing system.
  • Attend client meetings and manage correspondences.
  • Review documents for accuracy and compliance under supervision.
  • Learn about litigation, conveyancing, or corporate work depending on the firm’s practice.

Job Requirements

Candidate must possess a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and has completed Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP).

Good command of English and Malay (both written and spoken).

Proficiency in Mandarin is advantageous but not compulsory.

Responsible, disciplined, and able to meet deadlines.

Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to interact with clients when needed.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a legal team.

Good attention to detail and willingness to learn.
