Senior mechanical engineer
Air products has very good working enviorment. The pay is above average in the area. Company culture is very friendly. Lots of inside job oppertunaties.
Company is big with a lot of people. Enviorment in each department could be very different. Working hour could be long.
Engineering
Personally suitable in terms of location for commuting, on site parking, not worked overly hard, flex in working times
Advancement is limited if one is not in the "Air Products" mould, people taking credit for the work and ideas of others is the norm (and expected?). Essential that one emulates the cockrell on a dung heap - crowing to attract attention - "increasing ones profile" in AP speak. There is only one point of view and how things are done and that is the "Air Products WAY"!
Business development
Amazing people, interesting projects, global opportunities
slightly lacks organisation and HR relations should be improved
Administrative assistant
Lovely people, good environment, fair salary, nice working conditions, gym on site, great staff restaurant, average staff cafe, large car park
Has had to adopt a "low cost" policy so some of the things that made it a superior company to work for have had to go for the time being, i.e. travel has to be low cost, expenses are watched very carefully
Anonymous employee
Good salary range and benefit package. Barcelona is a great location.
Really bad HR department, management not up to standard.
Great company to learn and get trained in the industry. Exposed to a lot early in your career. Good starting point for a long career.
Company is going through a significant leadership change, but will hopefully emerge from it as a better company. Leadership is currently lacking.
1. Work learning freedom. 2. Friendly atmosphere within project co. 3. Time to work on many things together. 4. good payments in senior level.
1. Salary in lower hierarchy . 2. Manpower is less in projects, so work load is more. 3. Groupings same as all other companies.
Sales manager
There is usually career advancement opportunities. A good team of people to lead the company and many experienced individuals who are always willing to share their knowledge.
There are many Vice Presidents in the company. What is the purpose of this? The gap between those who are experienced and those who are still new is large. Many are expected to perform at the caliber that they are neither prepared nor trained for.
Lead machinery engineer
Lehigh Valley is losing its "Pennsyltucky" feel and has developed in to an OK place to live in the NE. APCI is great place to get early experience and move on.
APCI businesses are highly competitive and relatively low dollar, causing downward pressure on wages and benefits. There is a select "good old boy" network alive and well for those who do get the big jobs and perks. Most of the population attended a handful of PA schools, so it has a distinct fraternity feeling in the management ranks. Fortunately, it has been broken up by hiring Seifi Ghasemi, an outsider.
Instrumentation technician
A good experience all around. Relatively stress free environment. Every job is planned and scheduled. Proper permits are issued and filed for each job. Job is NOT done unless it can be done safe. Management does not bird-dog you thus allowing you to work in a relaxed manner. You are treated with respect and are trusted to do your job safely and throughly.
I did not really experience any cons with this company. Unfortunately, due to corporate restructuring I lost my job there last year (2014).
