The company clearly focus on areas that promise to have a bright future. They give their employees the opportunity to be part of their Digital Expert program and interact with technical leaders from all over the world, as it is a huge international company with 100K employees.
The technical career path for engineers is promised to be like for managers through the Digit Expert program, but it does not turn into real benefits, so it sounds more like marketing after you see it in action for some time.
