Given the current market for college students, the salary isn't too bad. Most people will have you think that everyone is making 100,000 out of school, but that is more often than not always the case. If you find a good project with a supportive team, you can be very successful, assuming you are willing to put adequate time and effort into your craft. Firm initiatives can be very diverse and fun when you find a good community. Great social networking opportunities with the incoming cohort and just in general. Allows you to come in and build relationships with other new hires as you all navigate the firm.
Firm initiatives can also be soul-sucking for your time and personal life. Having to work 5 additional hours a week on proposals is rough. Promotions are sometimes touch-and-go; even if you are exceeding, you might still be passed over due to market conditions and project needs. Not the worst, but it sucks if you were supporting multiple workstreams and they decide to hold you at the same level for another year. The wrong project, with the wrong skill alignment and an unsupportive team, can be a mental health destroyer. Flexibility is always required to a certain degree, but some leadership and some folks on these teams can be extremely inconsiderate and toxic. Deloitte's culture may not fit your way of working; some people care more about getting the work done and going home. You have to be willing to talk to everyone when the need arises, and you need to care about growing the business. Those aspects of the company can be overwhelming.
