Work life balance in some roles is hard to achieve

Salary might be low in the consulting branch MC Advisors compared to other management consulting firms.

Less annual hikes 3 days compulsory work from office

Most people (especially juniors) are dissatisfied with the company and are looking to leave. Even with a "non-hierarchical" culture, it is apparent they don't care about the junior employees. The institutional knowledge is incredibly weak, especially for Test & Learn. With all the new changes, it is becoming increasingly clear that the Mastercard Way rules seems to apply only to those below a certain level. Promotion cycles have slowed down dramatically, and they provided a BS reason to justify it, and basically told us to suck it up. With no added benefits and increases lower than the inflation rate, people understandably don't see a reason to stay. They claim they have high standards for promotion when in fact most of my current managers don't seem to have those standards themselves. They started to tell us that meeting the progress score only "qualifies you for promotion, and doesn't guarantee it". The management also blamed its junior for expecting to be promoted within a timeframe because "they did not promise that when we joined". The culture is overall deteriorating with nothing to justify it, pay below industry for what the work requires. The management is looking to cut costs anywhere and everywhere, even at the expense of employees. It has also come to my attention that they reduced the cadence of employee surveys, and didn't share the full results of the ones they conducted. They praise themselves for being on the Best Employees list, when if fact MC is ranked #63 while Visa is #49, American Express is #4, and Capital One is #15.

1. Work may get repetitive. 2. Getting good projects is tricky.

There's no major con but since it's a product based company its relatively difficult to get an internal transfer

Shifting to more office based working from January 2024, Office is nice but a bit out of the way.

Expect a very slow growth trajectory

Bureaucracy of course comes with enterprises of that size but Mastercard has managed it better from personal opinion than similar size companies.

Specific to fintech industry for strategy consulting

Moving up may require a number of lateral moves.

As with any large company, some processes can feel a bit bureaucratic. Rapidly scaling teams can sometimes lead to competing priorities across projects. However, the management is aware and actively working to streamline processes.

None everything is good here

Super boring, too many meetings, don't put people on engaging work

Restricted to payments' consulting. Company is lowering the salary ranges.

Management is interested only in shipping jobs to lower cost locations. Morale of U.S. employees is low. Certain parts of the company feel like a cartel and you have to be in the in-club, where it is more important to be liked than be good at what you do, Organization culture is more like a traditional financial company than a technology company.

Nothing as of now, maybe will change this in future.

Sometimes there could be friction between teams which leads to unnecessary conflicts in my opinion, however, this is the exception not the norm. People is extremely busy; the company is growing and the company needs to scale a bit more

Promotions and salary increase can be difficult

I am a black woman that worked in the Seattle cybersecurity team and was unfortunate to experience the following 1. Punitive management style with petty nitpicking , ever shifting expectations and poor mentorship and support. 2. Performance reviews were inconsistent and even if you meet specific objectives, they will either cancel meetings or avoid talking about performance measurements 3. Cowardice on the part of leadership. Will miscommunicate and encourage turf wars and pretend you are the one at fault. 4. Will undermine and take credit for your work leaving you to spiral in self doubt and shame 5. Cannot trust what leadership says . recording and writing down information will not help you and HR will back them up. The 6 month trial policy also helps to support this. 6. Be very careful in your written and spoken communication, you would be shocked at their ability to spin untrue narratives. 7. If you are the kind of person that assumes truth is self evident and will prevail. I encourage you to abandon that naivete and seek other opportunities

Your job security depends on your Manager and there are non-competent managers in Mastercard who can fire you silently any time

Increments - Increments like service based companies in single digits Infrastructure within projects - Infra issues are very common in projects (specially within Commercial Solutions) such as server down, Axon issuers, Jenkins issues etc. Respective teams have poor leadership and hence no actions are taken. This single improvement can bring great improvements in terms on timely deliverables, customer satisfaction etc.
