Customer support engineer
Motorola Solutions subsidiary, Avtec, has a great team environment where employees collaborate in a dedicated chat space, openly sharing knowledge and supporting one another to solve problems.
The biggest challenge at this company is the lack of managerial support and investment in employee development. Instead of fostering growth, the necessary resources for success are often not provided, making it difficult to perform effectively. Employees from different backgrounds may face inconsistent expectations and limited support, further hindering progress. Despite a strong motivation to succeed, there is little emphasis on mentorship, and performance evaluations seem to take priority over actual employee growth. Additionally, access to essential resources is not distributed fairly, creating an uneven playing field. Employees who raise concerns about these issues may not receive meaningful support and attempts to seek fairness can lead to an environment of uncertainty rather than constructive resolution. There is also a noticeable disconnect between leadership decisions and customer priorities, which affects both employees and the company’s reputation. Many employees are highly motivated to deliver quality results, but without clear guidance and adequate resources, doing so can feel like an uphill battle. Those considering a role here should be prepared to navigate these challenges independently.
Director of engineering
There are some really good people there, and their mission is great.
The company acquires many third parties and then often places C-Level folks from the acquired companies in leadership positions, for which they have no experience. Then these new leaders decide to shake things up and make unnecessary and unhelpful changes which break everything. Very Discouraging.
