Good work life balance here
Career Progression abit stagnant here
Segment lead
They have a great technology roadmap that will under-pin their growth over the next 5-10yrs. Good benefits for employees.
They operate in an aggressive market, when times get tough they have a track record ruthlessly cutting staff.
Senior engineer
Work life balance was good. Low level managers and employees made for a good working atmosphere
Layoffs every 2-4 years. Compensation package lags behind the industry, especially if you work in software. Management cycles through over hiring and layoffs.
Engineer
Don't often get calls outside of office hours. onsite gym, good canteen, most employees are treated with respect and there is a good sense of being part of a team.
A lingering uncertainty about the business - used as an excuse to block promotions and payrises when downturn cycles hit. Aging management structure - mostly all over 50 with no opportunity to go into senior roles for anyone else. Definitely still stuck in the corporate boardroom culture of the 1990s. Directors often crack terrible "dad jokes" while engineers give presentations for example. Flexible working - max 20% of your time at home. A lot of jobs can be done from home. Most jobs are still metrics focused/obsessed. Things like chasing single wafer scrap is a waste of time. Yet the yield team pride themselves on pretending that we can assign a root cause to every scrap issue.
