Great staff, pushing technologies and tools further. Great benefits and flexibility in worklife.
Needs to modernise work/life balance more. Could offer more remote working.
Senior staff
Some of engineers are trying to make good efforts for technical excellence.
There are small rats and big rats inside. If you have good cheeses, you'll have to put those into secured positions. You'll have to let them know that they are not free. If they find those and devoured all of them, they will bite you absolutely.
Research & development engineer

You get a gym and some decent amenities in the office but those aren't enough to offset the negatives about this place. There's also reimbursement for further studies so make use of that to jump elsewhere if you do plan on staying for a bit.
No mentorship and guidance given to new staff. There is a mismatch of expectations between management and engineers, so your contributions as an engineer will be either overlooked or used to pad your manager's portfolio. No exposure to other departments or senior management as an individual contributor, which means your career growth and opportunities are limited, unlike the high-flying execs who get promoted or rotated into new roles almost every other year. Rank-and-file staff stay stagnant in their cubicles at the same function for years (and your pay reflects that too). Hire-and-fire mentality, hence engineering is seen as a cost centre and thus treated like a commodity to be scaled up or down as needed. Which is also why opportunities for engineers to move about are few and far between since the company sees no point in investing in a cost centre. Retrenchments and reorganisations will be on your colleagues' minds most of the time, which makes for a very gloomy atmosphere at work. Colleagues are generally alright with the exception of those who gossip a lot or contact you outside of work for meaningless issues. Most coworkers are still friendly and helpful but don’t expect a lot of product-specific knowledge transfer since everyone is protective of their portfolios, which affects their ricebowls. People generally keep to themselves here even though company events are conducted from time to time. Compared to other places I’ve worked at, the onboarding process was done without much thought, and with outdated materials as well. Offboarding was done similarly haphazardly as well, with people contacting me for admin issues even after leaving the company. For what they are worth, HR seems to get more perks than core engineering in Seagate. :)
Software engineer
Friendly culture, colleagues willingness to help
Upper management retrench people without rationale.
Sr. customer technical engineer
It's a job of balance with life and work
Full of Political wrestling. You have to select the right side and cannot think what is best for company. The successful goal is to make Sales team happy.
