Freelance copywriting for 3 retainer clients. 8-10 hours/week. Found first clients through LinkedIn and Upwork. Year 2 all clients came from referrals. The key is delivering so well they tell others.

Anyone else feel like LinkedIn is getting more toxic in Malaysia?

Used to love checking LinkedIn. Now it feels like a mix of: - Humble brags disguised as "sharing my journey" - Completely made-up productivity advice (wake up at 4am, cold shower, journal, you'll be a CEO) - Fake viral…

How long should a Malaysian job search realistically take?

Entry level: 1-3 months. Mid level: 2-4 months. Senior/specialised: 3-6 months. If you are past month 4 with low response rates, the problem is usually the CV or the positioning, not the market.

Is GitHub Copilot actually worth the USD10/month for Malaysian devs?

Used it for 6 months. Saves me about 30min/day on boilerplate and documentation. At the USD/MYR rate it is RM45/month. If your hourly rate is above RM30, it pays for itself easily.

Is Coursera Plus worth it for Malaysian learners?

At USD399/year (about RM1,800) it covers unlimited courses and many professional certificates. Worth it if you plan to complete 3+ certificates in a year. Otherwise just audit individual courses for free.

Notion vs Obsidian for personal knowledge management — which do you use?

Notion: beautiful, shareable, slow. Obsidian: local files, Markdown, fast, great for long-term notes. I switched from Notion to Obsidian 8 months ago and never looked back.
