Assistant Manager, Underwriting at Manulife - Kuala Lumpur

The Assistant Manager, Underwriting is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of tasks within the New Business Underwriting Department. This role is critical in maintaining the company's reputation and service standards through effective management of underwriting processes.

The day-to-day work involves being resourceful, independent, and a self-starter while managing various tasks related to underwriting. The incumbent must meet deadlines and deliver expected results, as any error or delay may impact the company's reputation and service standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure applications are underwritten according to conferred authority and agreed turnaround times.
• Comply with company underwriting guidelines.
• Act as backup for team members as needed.
• Countersign applications referred by junior underwriters.
• Perform user acceptance testing (UAT) and participate in projects.
• Handle enquiries within agreed turnaround times.
• Prepare reports and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the head of department (HOD).
