
The Assistant Manager in Underwriting is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of insurance applications within the New Business Underwriting Department. The role requires meeting deadlines, compliance with underwriting guidelines, and performing various operational and administrative duties to support the team and department.
The role involves being resourceful, independent, and a self-starter accountable for accuracy and timeliness in all tasks related to the New Business Underwriting Department. The incumbent must meet deadlines and deliver expected results, as any error or delay may impact company reputation and service standards. Responsibilities include ensuring applications are underwritten according to conferred authority and agreed turnaround times, compliance with company underwriting guidelines, acting as backup for team members, countersigning applications referred by junior underwriters, performing user acceptance testing (UAT) and projects, handling enquiries within agreed turnaround times, preparing reports and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and performing other administrative duties as assigned by the head of department (HOD).
Degree holder in Science, Biomedical Science, Nursing with at least 3 to 5 years of related working experience.
Able to work long hours, public holidays, and weekends as required.
Familiarity with working with AS400 systems and Microsoft Office.
