Job Description

The Associate Professor - Architecture is responsible for undertaking teaching duties such as developing teaching materials, conducting classes and tutorials, consulting with students, invigilation, and assessment. The role involves contributing to programme and curriculum development, planning and implementing teaching strategies to optimize student learning, supporting research and scholarship of postgraduate students, and maintaining high standards of teaching and learning. The position also requires participation in scholarly activities such as research, conference presentations, journal publications, and community work. The Associate Professor supports securing research grants as a co-researcher, achieves research outcome targets, and undertakes administrative responsibilities including attending meetings, committee participation, and establishing linkages with external organizations and professional bodies.

Job Requirements

Minimum qualification of PhD in Architecture or Built Environment with cumulative five (5) years of relevant teaching or industry experience.

Possess a strong publication record with at least 3-5 publications in C.I. journals (ISI, SCOPUS Q1 or Q2) in the last 5 years.

Secured research grant(s) as a Principal Investigator worth RM75,000-RM100,000 (cumulative).

Graduated at least 2 PhD students.

H-index of minimum 5.

Registered with Board of Architects of Malaysia (LAM) or equivalent.

Green Building (GBI, LEED) certified professional or possess a working knowledge on green building certification.

Editorship in reputable journal will be an added advantage.

Experience working in higher education environment and a track record of teaching experience and professional knowledge of curriculum development or good record of professional experience with evidence of coaching and mentoring and a high quality of presentation skills.

Experience in developing teaching methodologies and materials, including the effective use of IT technologies in the facilitation of teaching and learning.

Experience working on research projects and activities or experience of professional practice or consultancy work, including evidence of appropriate outputs.
