Role Summary

The Associate Professor - Food Studies is responsible for delivering high-quality education and engaging in scholarly research activities. This role significantly impacts the academic environment by enhancing student learning and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of food studies.

Job Description

The Associate Professor will undertake comprehensive teaching duties, including designing and preparing teaching materials, conducting classes and tutorials, and consulting with students. The position also involves participating in programme and curriculum development and supporting postgraduate research projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and prepare teaching materials for courses.
  • Conduct classes and tutorials to facilitate student learning.
  • Consult with students to provide academic support and guidance.
  • Participate in programme and curriculum development initiatives.
  • Implement teaching strategies to enhance student engagement.
  • Support postgraduate research projects and mentor students.
  • Engage in scholarly research activities and publish findings.
  • Secure research grants and achieve outcome targets.
  • Participate in administrative duties, including meetings and committees.
  • Assist in building linkages with external organizations and professional bodies.

Job Requirements

Possess a PhD from a recognised university in Culinary, Gastronomy, Food Studies or other relevant field.

At least five (5) years of experience in teaching, research, or industry.

Strong publication record with 3-5 publications in C.I. journals (ISI, SCOPUS) in the last 5 years.

Secured research grant(s) as a Principal Investigator worth RM75,000-RM100,000 (cumulative).

Graduated at least 2 PhD students.

H-index of minimum 5.

Experience in developing teaching methodologies and materials.
