Job Description

The Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering is responsible for providing academic leadership in teaching and learning, including curriculum innovation and programme development. This role involves designing, preparing, and delivering high-quality teaching materials, mentoring colleagues and postgraduate students, supervising research, and maintaining high teaching standards. The position also requires active involvement in research through conducting impactful studies, publishing in respected journals, securing research funding, and mentoring junior academics. In addition, the role includes participation in departmental administration, committee work, and fostering collaborations with external organizations and industry partners.

Job Requirements

PhD in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university.

Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in teaching, research, and/or industry practice, preferably within a higher education environment.

Strong publication record with 5 6 indexed journal publications (ISI / Scopus Q1 and Q2) within the last five (5) years.

Proven ability to secure external research grants as Principal Investigator, with a cumulative value of RM150,000 200,000.

Scopus h-index of at least 8.

Successfully supervised and graduated at least two (2) PhD students by Research as the main supervisor.

Proven experience in curriculum design, teaching innovation, and pedagogical excellence.

Evidence of mentoring and coaching colleagues and students to achieve academic excellence.

Skilled in developing and applying effective teaching methodologies, including the use of digital and IT technologies.

Active involvement in research projects, consultancy, or professional practice with evidence of scholarly or industry-relevant outputs.

Commitment to continuous professional development and engagement with relevant professional or academic bodies.
