The Associate Professor in Tourism Management / Community Development is responsible for teaching and related duties, including designing and developing teaching materials, conducting lectures and tutorials, consulting with students, and assessment activities. The role involves contributing to high quality program and curriculum development, planning and implementing effective teaching strategies, supporting postgraduate research, and maintaining high teaching standards to meet university expectations. This position also includes engaging in research activities such as undertaking scholarly research, presenting at conferences, publishing in journals, supporting research grant applications, and achieving research targets appropriate to the Associate Professor level. Additionally, administrative duties like attending meetings, participating in committees, contributing to professional activities, and establishing external academic linkages are part of the role.
Possess a PhD from a recognised university in Tourism or Hospitality Management.
Have at least five years of experience in teaching, research, or industry.
Maintain a strong publication record with at least 3-5 publications in C.I. journals (ISI, SCOPUS) in the last 5 years.
Have secured research grant(s) as a Principal Investigator worth RM75,000-RM100,000 cumulatively.
Graduated at least 2 PhD students.
Have an H-index of minimum 5.
Experience working in a higher education environment with a track record of teaching, curriculum development, coaching, mentoring, and presentation skills.
Experience in developing teaching methodologies and materials, including effective use of IT technologies in teaching and learning.
Experience working on research projects and activities or professional practice/consultancy work, with evidence of relevant outputs.
