Role Summary

The Associate Professor in Tourism Management / Community Development is responsible for teaching and related duties. This role significantly contributes to the academic environment by enhancing program development and maintaining high teaching standards.

Job Description

The Associate Professor will engage in day-to-day teaching activities, including designing materials, conducting lectures, and consulting with students. The position also involves contributing to research and administrative duties within a collaborative academic setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop teaching materials for courses.
  • Conduct lectures and tutorials for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Contribute to program and curriculum development initiatives.
  • Engage in scholarly research and publish findings in academic journals.
  • Present research at conferences and workshops.
  • Support postgraduate research and mentor students.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and committees.
  • Establish and maintain external academic linkages.

Job Requirements

Possess a PhD from a recognised university in Tourism or Hospitality Management.

Have at least five years of experience in teaching, research, or industry.

Maintain a strong publication record with at least 3-5 publications in C.I. journals (ISI, SCOPUS) in the last 5 years.

Have secured research grant(s) as a Principal Investigator worth RM75,000-RM100,000 cumulatively.

Graduated at least 2 PhD students.

Have an H-index of minimum 5.

Experience working in a higher education environment.
