The Associate Professor in Tourism Management will be responsible for teaching, research, and program development within the field of tourism education. The role includes designing and delivering course materials, supporting postgraduate research, engaging in research activities and publications, and participating in administrative and professional development duties.
The role involves undertaking teaching and related duties including design, preparation, and development of teaching materials, conducting classes, tutorials, practicals, student consultation, invigilation, marking, and assessment. The position requires participation in high-quality program and curriculum development, planning and implementing teaching strategies to optimize and motivate student learning, supporting postgraduate student research projects, and maintaining high standards of teaching and learning to meet the university's expectations. In addition, the role involves participating in research activities such as conducting research, conference presentations, journal publications, community work, supporting grant acquisition efforts as a co-researcher, and achieving set research outcome targets. Administrative responsibilities include attending departmental meetings, participating in committees and working groups, engaging in professional development activities, and assisting in establishing external linkages related to academic matters.
Possess a PhD from a recognised university in Tourism or Hospitality Management.
Candidate must have at least five (5) years of experience in teaching / research / industry.
Possess a strong publication record with at least 3-5 publications in C.I. journals (ISI, SCOPUS) in the last 5 years.
Secured research grant(s) as a Principal Investigator worth RM75,000-RM100,000 (cumulative).
Graduated at least 2 PhD students.
Minimum h-index of 5.
Experience working in higher education environment and a track record of teaching experience and professional knowledge of curriculum development or good record of professional experience with evidence of coaching and mentoring and a high quality of presentation skills.
Experience in developing teaching methodologies and materials, including the effective use of IT technologies in the facilitation of teaching and learning.
Experience working on research projects and activities or experience of professional practice/consultancy work, including evidence of appropriate outputs.
