The Director of Engineering is responsible for overseeing property maintenance with a focus on safety, security, and asset protection. This role manages the building, grounds, and physical plant operations, including budget management, capital projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation. The position involves developing strategies to meet guest and employee needs while maximizing financial performance and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, the Director leads the emergency response team and supervises construction projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED with 6 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related field along with technical training in HVAC-R, Electrical, or Plumbing, OR a 2-year degree in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major with 4 years of relevant experience and technical training in HVAC-R, Electrical, or Plumbing.
Experience managing budgets and engineering operations.
Knowledge of maintaining equipment such as refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
Ability to administer service contracts and ensure compliance with state, local, and federal regulations.
Capability to lead and coach engineering teams and manage departmental expenses.
Experience in developing and managing engineering operating strategies aligned with business goals.
Skills in overseeing preventative maintenance and long-term asset protection plans.
Competence in financial management including budget review and expense control.
Experience in handling human resources activities such as employee relations, disciplinary procedures, and communication within engineering operations.
Ability to manage emergency response and safety systems including fire fighting equipment and alarms.
