The Duty Engineer at Sheraton Johor Bahru assists in managing all engineering and maintenance operations of the property, focusing on safety, security, and asset protection. The role includes aiding in budget management, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, energy conservation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position also involves assisting with emergency response for facility issues and maintaining high standards in building and grounds upkeep.
Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or related area with technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing, or a 2-year degree in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major with no experience required.
Ability to assist with managing physical plant equipment including refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety standards in facility operations.
Skills in managing energy conservation and economical operations.
Capability to assist with service contract specifications and administration.
Experience with distributing preventive maintenance and monitoring repair work.
Competence in overseeing maintenance of grounds, guestrooms, public spaces, restaurants, vehicles, and recreational facilities.
Ability to assist with long-term planning for maintenance and asset protection.
Skills in project planning and coordination with contractors for renovations and new construction.
Ability to build positive relationships with external entities such as city departments and vendors.
Competence in performing property and guest area inspections.
Experience in managing inventory of parts and equipment.
Capability to ensure licenses, certifications, and life safety systems are maintained.
Leadership in guest hospitality and customer service.
Ability to establish employee guidelines and work to improve guest satisfaction based on feedback.
