The Facilities Engineer is responsible for overseeing maintenance and operations within a building, coordinating with clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure effective completion of work orders. This role supports Property Managers by managing all aspects of facility operations, including maintenance, repairs, compliance, and project execution.
The Facilities Engineer role involves supervising a team that coordinates with clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure work orders are completed effectively. This position is part of the Facilities Management function, which supports Property Managers by managing all aspects of facility operations including repairs and investment plans. The Facilities Engineer is responsible for coordinating facility events and contractor visits, managing maintenance tasks and emergencies, overseeing service contracts, monitoring critical building systems using Building Management Systems (BMS), and leading facility-related projects. Additional duties include managing procurement processes, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, troubleshooting system issues, implementing energy-saving initiatives, managing vendors, assisting in budgeting, communicating with stakeholders, managing asset lifecycle, supervising maintenance staff, and performing other tasks as assigned by management.
A bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or industrial) or facilities management is typically required.
A minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in facility management or engineering is often expected.
A strong understanding of MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems, HVAC, and Building Management Systems (BMS) is essential.
Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite is necessary.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly diagnose and solve complex technical problems are required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical information and collaborate with various teams, management, and contractors are needed.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including planning, budgeting, and execution is required.
Professional certifications such as a Professional Engineer (PE) license or Facility Management Professional (FMP) can be beneficial but are optional.
