Role Summary
The Library Assistant / Senior Library Assistant is responsible for supporting the operation of the school library, known as the Learning Resource Hub (LRH). This role involves effective teamwork and communication in a busy environment, assisting learners, teachers, and staff with library services.
Job Description
The Library Assistant / Senior Library Assistant role involves day-to-day support of library operations, providing library and research services, and maintaining the LRH and its collections under the direction of the Librarian. The Senior Library Assistant also manages the learning space and leads the audit and development of physical collections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support library operations and services.
- Assist learners, teachers, and staff with library catalogues.
- Promote reading and manage library resources.
- Maintain the Learning Resource Hub as an inviting space.
- Manage digital resources and collections.
- Lead the audit of physical collections.
- Collaborate with the Librarian on library initiatives.
Job Requirements
Diploma in Library or Information Science or related tertiary qualification is preferred.
Good knowledge of library techniques and systems.
Skill in cataloguing, classification, and reference services.
Ability to catalogue resources in English and Mandarin is preferred.
