Job Description
The Operating Department Practitioner works in the operation theatre, performing essential duties to support surgical teams and patient care. This role requires flexibility to work shifts as assigned by the Unit Manager, ensuring that care standards are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand and implement care in alignment with the Vision and Mission Statements.
- Work shift duties as assigned by the Unit Manager.
- Inform the Unit Manager of any changes affecting standards of care.
- Take personal responsibility for professional development and maintain mandatory learning hours.
- Participate in teaching programs and orientation for new staff.
- Supervise lower categories of staff to ensure quality care.
- Assist in appraising job performance of unit staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Job Requirements
Relevant healthcare qualification in Operating Department Practice or equivalent.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Experience in an operating theatre environment is preferred.
Strong understanding of patient care standards and protocols.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
