Job Description
Operations Research Engineers at ExxonMobil act as internal consultants supporting improved decision-making by developing models using operations research methods such as mathematical optimization and stochastic simulation. They work in teams to apply technical skills, project management, and business knowledge to develop technological and analytics solutions that influence key business decisions, focusing particularly on supply chain and commercial functions for Fuels, Lubes, and Chemical products.
Job Requirements
Master's degree preferred in Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a relevant field.
Ability to translate general requirements and long-term deadlines into shorter-term work tasks, self-direct work, and monitor progress.
Ability to solicit inputs from subject matter experts and engage with cross-functional teams to drive results.
Strong analytical skills with 5+ years of experience in applying operations research modeling methods for commercial-grade quality solutions.
Competency in developing mathematical optimization models using mathematical modeling languages such as AIMMS, GAMS, AMPL, Pyomo, or Gurobipy.
Competency in developing system dynamics simulation models using software such as Stella Architect, VenSim, or AnyLogic.
Curious mindset to understand business problems and their related factors to develop solutions.
Ability to view complex subjects from both high-level and detailed perspectives and communicate appropriately with different audiences.
Familiarity with Python, especially for developing and deploying operations research solutions.
Experience with source code version control using Git.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
