The Static Equipment Engineer role at ExxonMobil involves providing technical services related to static equipment to various operating units, manufacturing plants, capital projects, and research organizations. The position, based in Kuala Lumpur, requires working closely with global teams and contributing to technical decisions, supporting project development phases, and applying knowledge of asset operations to deliver cost-effective solutions. The engineer is expected to collaborate with partners and contractors, participate in meetings with vendors and industry bodies, and provide technical mentorship to early-career professionals.
Job Requirements
Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, LNG, or related industries.
Broad and extensive knowledge of static equipment industry design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria.
Knowledge of mechanical properties and degradation mechanisms of common construction materials.
Experience in design, fabrication, and construction of pressure vessels, process columns, reactors, and heat exchangers.
Familiarity with vessel, heat exchanger, and storage tank analysis programs such as PV Elite, Compress, Tank, AME Tank.
Knowledge of pressure equipment rerate and repair assessments per industry codes such as API 510 and NBIC.
Experience with onshore and offshore facilities design and working onsite in oil and gas facilities.
Participation in layout model reviews, HAZID, design reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs, vendor qualifications, and bid evaluations.
Breadth of experience in multiple technical disciplines with depth in mechanical/static equipment.
Ability to interface with other engineering disciplines such as process, rotating equipment, and materials.
Strong organizational, management, and technical judgment skills.
Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
Strong leadership, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
