Job Description
The Whole School Counsellor and/or Lead Counsellor at Nexus International School engages in day-to-day activities that include individual and group counselling, collaboration with teachers and parents, and the design of mental health programmes. The role also involves leading professional development on emotional wellbeing and supporting transitions for learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counselling to learners.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support student wellbeing.
- Design and implement mental health programmes for the school community.
- Lead professional development sessions on emotional wellbeing for staff.
- Manage counselling services and supervise other counsellors.
- Develop and monitor school-wide mental health initiatives.
- Serve as the primary contact for mental health concerns within the school.
- Oversee safeguarding cases and promote safeguarding awareness across the school community.
Job Requirements
A minimum of a relevant degree and a recognised counselling qualification(s), with higher qualifications preferred.
Registered with a recognised professional counselling body in any country.
Strong understanding of the professional duties, ethical obligations, and legal responsibilities of counsellors.
Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, learners, and parents.
Evidence of ongoing professional development in counselling and mental health.
Experience working with learners and adults from diverse backgrounds and needs.
Prior experience in an international school environment is preferred.
