Low basic, benefits are so so

Like many large companies, it is quiet careful about how it allocates resources and sometimes takes months to make decisions.

A very busy location and extremely fast paced work environment, with not enough employees and the reluctance of middle management to hire more employees.

No work life balance and no guide

The company do not appreciate talent. The salary is disappointing. One role have to cover at least 3 person's job

Impossible to move up in the hierarchy. Very high internal competition between departments.

1. No clear career ladder. 2. Insisting on the flat organization.

Nothing happens quickly here. However, Air Liquide has been in business and profitable for over 100 years. So, there is something to be said for a slow and conservative approach.

Pushing out experience and "can do it right the first time" talent for younger, cheaper, do not know their gasholes from a hole in the ground raw recruits. Move ahead... get paid less, I guess that's the new career opportunity (see conditional rating below) as dictated by what bean counters can measure

Salaries are not competitive if you are in a lower position. Raises - non existent, bonus.

Lack of defined career progression for non-operations track. Compensation below market, in my experience.

Very cliquey, if your face doesn’t fit you won’t get far. So stuck in their backwards ways and staff who have been there years and think they own the place. HR is always looking to wrong you and work against you. They watch you and set you up to fail. Everyone is working against each other making it quite toxic, but on the face of it they are very smiley

Annual raises are lower then similar companies

Very political, outdated infrastructure / systems, bureaucracy & processes which are difficult to manage. High attrition in certain business areas. Several managers appear to have been chosen for pedigree over relevant experience & people skills. Managers rotate through positions in 3 years or less leading to short term decision making with shallow focus on P&L and stock price with no consequences for poor results after they have left the position. Line employees disconnected from long-term vision. Poor assimilation of acquired businesses into parent company (diminishing their prior potential). HR department suffers from high turnover and seen to be ignorant or downright dismissive of lower-line employee issues

Red flags everywhere: no standard HR policies, high leadership turnover, and a total lack of transparency. The company has moved away from valuing experience, retrenching top-tier GM-level talent and replacing them with inexperienced 'talkers.' Secretive layoffs and a refusal to acknowledge market salary benchmarks make it clear that employee loyalty is not a priority

One downside which some people might feel is compensation and benefits as compared to others in similar jobs. Other than that, it's a good company to work with.

Getting promoted and moving within the company is a lot harder than the company portrays.

Pay is under standard for chemical operators, at the same time more is asked of them in the way of work and responsibility.
