Can also be mundane, boring, infuriating if your counterparts don't pull their weight.

Every work place has managers with favorites but, this department genuinely shows blatant favoritism. And it shows in scheduling, leave earlier, tardies and call offs.

minimum wage, no chance at a raise

Pay could be much better.

Tough first year, bottom of the totum pole but that is to be expected with any entry level job. Great leaders and mentors to support you. Tough Work/Life Balance is all.

No time off or and time to do anything

Mid level managers have free rein and can decide what they want without consideration

Nothing is bad to say

Nothing much to say. Although further career development need more thought.

Overtime without pay and strict employee rules

Always understaffed, proactive staff get no recognition and lazy staff don't get reprimanded. Manager has favourites and HR won't do anything about it.

Traveling to / from the city and city wage taxes

work hours are not stable

While I truly enjoyed my time at the Marriott the only con that I could think of was that sometimes it was a challenge to get coverage on shifts for call outs but that’s to be expected with an operation that’s 24/7

Salary was so low at the beginning

Other managers a lot of unnecessary meetings

No cons whatsoever. Helped me a lot

Management company allowed the hotel to just fall apart. Owners never came to visit to see what the hotel look like

Bad scheduling no understanding with employees

scheduling is based off seniority

Have nothing negative to say

Raises could be better. They will pull the rug out from underneath the entire staff by selling to management companies with little notice. Now our entire team is without benefits & with a sketchy company.

Due to the 24/7 nature of the hospitality industry, time off during major holidays can be difficult to secure Although Marriott promotes from within, career progression can be slow or competitive in certain departments or locations

Too much internal politics and bureaucracy.

8-10 hours per day in real time client service is thought.

Company does not emphasize work / life balance.

Not enough pay, hours were too long

Always open 24 hours a day 7 days a week
