With rapid growth comes resources constraints. It is imperative to make sure you communicate clearly and with data to gain resource allocations.

The software engineer role is heavily underpaid as compared to market, high turnover rates, limited budget, and low salary increment.

None that I can think of at this time.

Can be very high pressure, can get blamed for things beyond your control

Big projects can be overwhelming, but looks like there is the time to figure how everything works.

Lack of timely communication from leadership

My interviewing process with the management team was very professional and straight forward. However, when I was handed over to HR for the last phase of the hiring process I was stunned with the level of unprofessionalism and disrespect for me as a candidate. The HR needed 2 meetings with me. The first one happened on time and was OK. The second one was scheduled and canceled or postponed 6 times (always at the last minute and with very lame excuses). This dragged on for three days. I spent those days waiting for a new meeting invite every few hours. We finally met and finished the process on the 7th try.

There's no guaranteed raises The starting pay is low, no cost of living raises since pre pandemic even though the cost of most things are at least 20% higher than they used to be. In 2024 making $20 an hour might as well be $15.... They will tell you they can't allocate any kind of raise for you even though you work hard and put out consistent numbers. They will tell you to try to be better than other employees and we can reevaluate later. Like what? Where is the incentive? Where is the value to me as a good employee?

Pay and repetitive cold calling

It's a big company, like any big company there is bureaucracy which is frustrating at times

Travel work load management pay

work from agency, you can be fired at any time

Travel was set to 75% with 25% home time when hired. 3 weeks on the road and one week at home with administrative work. Manager switches weeks out with little notice. Sometimes suggesting 5-6 weeks out before week to reset. Its more 85-90% out time.

Occasional miscommunication regarding project assignments

Challenging to get people to take ownership. Difficult to get promotion, lack of vacancies. Integration between solutions makes it challenging at times.

Not sure if there is much room for career growth

Bad Managment style. Full of internal conflicts and manager do not respect employee

No opportunity to learn new skills or grow your career. Tech stack is simple and outdated

Some internal processes could be more streamlined. Communication between some departments could be improved.

For positions out of the places where MSI has particular offices, introduction processes a bit slower as there are several things that needs to be addressed virtually and through carrier's transit times.

Large Corp company so you can sometimes feel overlooked.

Slow moving in regards to implementing new ideas and technologies. No net new products introduced while I was there only repacking and form factor updates.

Hybrid mode may affect abit of work life balance

Many employees tend to fear replacement, which makes the culture mean spirited. They claim inclusivity, and there are a lot of LGBTQ+ employees, but there are a number of other identifications they espouse to support, but do not back it up in real life. No employee advocacy, lots of blaming going around. Open Door policy is a joke.

There are a lot of things to improve, I think the most important now is to find a way to make our Brazil distribution better.

Senior management will throw you under the bus to hit their performance goals. Great for shareholders, terrible for employees.

No work life balance. Overworked and underpaid Burn out rate is insanely high. Expect to be stuck here once you start because you don't have the time to find another job.

No bad cons at all. Management is hands-off as well, which can be a pro or con depending on the person

Hierarchy, limited option to move to senior management role. Work life balance is not optimal with plenty of night calls

Not rewarded on merit but on a small number of people at the top, if they decide to 'sponsor' your progression. The people at the top have mostly not had much experience outside of Motorola Solutions, and therefore very limited perspective.

Large organization, longevity of employees is great, but may limit the ability to move up in certain roles.

Upper Management could use some work.
