Electrical engineer
Love the actual job but don't plan on getting on-the-job training and reference materials are old, missing information and wrong.
I want to share my experience at Schneider Electric, particularly around how electrical engineers are treated when it comes to overtime. Unfair Overtime Policy: Engineers are not eligible for standard overtime pay. Instead, there’s a flat-fee structure that makes no sense—it doesn’t matter if you have years of experience or are just starting out, everyone is treated the same. To even qualify for this flat fee, you must work a minimum of 10 extra hours before any compensation kicks in. This is not only unfair, it’s demoralizing. Delayed and Unreliable Payments: Even when you do meet the excessive threshold, overtime pay is not processed in a timely manner. Payments are often delayed by weeks or even months, with no clear explanation or accountability. In some cases, employees don’t see the compensation at all. This creates constant financial stress and sends a clear message that the company doesn’t value the time and effort of its engineers. It is the ONLY trade in these data centers that are required to work overtime and not compensated for it. Turnover is unbelievable. People leave on a regular basis because this environment drains motivation and drives talent away. It's incredibly disheartening to work weekends and longs nights only to be met with delayed, minimal, or nonexistent overtime pay. Schneider's practices show a complete lack of respect for its engineering staff. Project managers on jobs are TERRIBLE. The will send you ALL over the country for jobs where there is no work needed, local jobs available and have no clue what happens onsite and isn't on ANY of the planning calls. It is a MESS. LEADERSHIP is the worst... the turn a blind eye to ALL of it and say "we are looking into it" and nothing ever happens.
Director
Good remuneration and benefits and fast growth for business degree holders.
Extreme pressure to get things done. DEI policies killing merit No scope for technocrats to grow Company prefers beaurocrats aka business degree holders to leadership positions despite claims of being a technical innovator. Strictly no growth beyond middle management for technical personnel.
