Sometime job is too challenge

depends on which department you are in

very slow promotion progress; it takes a very long time

- Product managers fickle in their asks to the team with lots of thrashing requirements - Despite championing "One Seagate", Systems, HDD, and SSD are walled off from each other (e.g. if Systems or IT needs Hard Drives, those have to be purchased from the HDD org)

As per any other company

Slow career progression and normal benefit

Layoffs - don't get too comfortable?

Was fines millions due to trade breach with China, who made that decision?

Lower pay as compared to market.

For entry level cant have career development

Managers who aren't taught how to manage. Managers who are given the authority to make decisions when THEY are the problem. Management and projects that take years to complete. Poorest project management I have ever worked with. Pretty sad these folks are driving poorly laid out plans. I fear for Seagate's future.

No hybrid work arrangements. Promotion only eligible for employees of more than 5years. Poor documentation No standardisation Messy organisation Many long term employees with poor knowledge and skills Alot of clueless people in the company Hire-Fire organisation (Youngest employees first to go during retrenchment) Employees refuse to share documents and files in order to lower chances of being retrenched/retired Minimal local HR presence No proper equipment provided No proper facilities for activities that doesn't directly contribute to production Office computers and accessories all very old Office chairs falling apart

Working hard might not always climb

The team didn't have experts in deep learning. So I was mostly not supervised. Seems that they even didn't know that the problems they worked on couldn't be properly solved by deep learning.

company is well structured, can only fit in pre-selected boxes.

Alot of job cuts happened

My company was aqcuired by Seagate and it went from a very employee centric workplace to everything feeling as though you were being blindsided.

Hire and fire kind of company

Can’t think of any. Good place to work.

Very political environment. Team work is abysmal especially after rounds of lay offs. Some Senior Management tend to cherry pick certain favorite individual subordinates and spend exclusive technical and social time with them only without including other team members. Isolation is typical in engineering work and you get your work done, go home, rinse, repeat. But so much for company’s motto of ‘inclusion’

Fast-paced environment may lead to tight deadlines and pressure. Remote work options may be limited depending on role and project. Competitive atmosphere may not suit all working styles. Communication regarding company decisions could be clearer. Commuting challenges may exist depending on office location.

Working hours not so flexible.

Low number of annual vacation leave

some teams take advantage and coast on their work, workload is not distributed fairly - the more you do, the more you are asked (made) to do, advancement is dependent on your management so may be very limited, staff reductions are frequent, the company leadership constantly touted the values of integrity, innovation, and inclusion, while the clicky all-white leadership team was selling drives illegally in other countries.

Hard to get promoted, less learning.
