Medical benefit and HR support is bad

Benefits are low compared to competitors

The directors and above are snakes, especially during financial downturn caused by poor leadership. You never know when layoffs are coming and then one day you go into work and your friends are getting walked out

Corporate salary structure losses good talent as good employees get same comp based on years

The pay was not what I expected

Inflexible with working from home

It's an oppressive culture where the local managers and Directors take full liberty. Job insecurity would always haunt you each day of your job.

Progression is very slow. Very limited numbers of promotions available to staff each year. Pay is much lower than industry average. Pay increases with promotions are very poor (only £4K difference between Sr and Staff engineer). With high attrition The company is chronically understaffed and current staff is grossly underexperienced (sounds like good opportunity for progression, but its not). Past 2 years has seen a freeze on pay rises and bonuses (with high inflation this is a severe real-terms pay cut). Managers are under high pressure to meet unrealistic deadlines. Management (mid to senior level) act in a very short sighted manner (seems motivated more by short term self preservation than genuinely driving technology forward). Projects are started with full clear knowledge that they will be redundant to company needs before completion

Nothing major, maybe consider transport allowance for overtime work for technicians if possible.

Lots of middle-management infighting. Siloed groups undercutting overall company goals. Annual raises almost never happen (and are tiny if they do). Constant threat of layoffs every six months or so.

This company is stressful but also beneficial for people who are experienced

Slow career growth for lower-level staff even if you work proactively.

Market is shifting away from HDDs. Revenue shrinking. Just a matter of time.

Clueless management at upper levels

Salary not at all competitive compared to similar companies on both sides of the border. Senior management completely out of touch with the needs of their engineering staff. No trust placed in the staff who performed beyond all expectations working from home throughout the pandemic. No flexibility now being offered post pandemic despite production metrics operating at all time highs. Promotion and career progression very limited. This is now turning into a company where people come for a few years to get experience on their CV and then move on to better opportunities/better pay. And rightly so. With more flexibility being offered all over the country and needless to say better compensation, talented people should avoid this place like the plague as it’s a dead end. Senior management are cowards who toe the party line from America. They have no interest in doing the right thing by their people who have been loyal to the company for decades. They had a great opportunity to provide engineering staff with a flexible workweek with the option of working from home a few days a week. Instead they went for the shortsighted option as usual spouting some nonsense about not being collaborative enough from home. Ridiculous carry on. This company is only going to attract poor engineering staff from here on, and they only have themselves to blame.

Expect to deliver and runs lean

Everyone is trying to protect themselves, will not commit to helping other people unless they are not directly involved with the project/work

Training is not great, the company tends to mainly hire inexperienced engineers to pay them as less as possible and the pay rises are low, so after a few years when employees get experience, they move to a better paying job. Career progression is really slow, unless you sacrifice the work life balance. Management is mostly clueless on how to help you advance your career or give any helpful feedback aside from the usual corporate speak.

Upper management focuses on bringing new features before the core of the system is stable leading to lots of regressions.

Management is terrible. Managers are only out for themselves, don’t support the team, and do not like to be challenge. Siloed orgs do not help. Goals are very conflicting. Pay is poor and worse for young people. Very hard to get into management.

Working night shift can take its toll

Job security in Seagate used to be good but in recent years many of my former colleagues left due to multiple redundancy and even salary cut since I left. I feel sorry for the people working there. Poor weather and remote locations are other cons.

Monotanous work, often short staffed in production department.Bullying culture of management seemsbto be the norm.

-Lack of clear direction and intermediate steps required to achieve project goals. -Disruption to communication processes and unclear job roles.

No chance for promotion. Managers never communicate with employees. We are forced back into the office full time no matter what - even when we can do our jobs remotely. So many problems and no one understands or cares. No empathy in a manufacturing environment - just survival mode.

Career development can be a little bit slow after a while. Effects of IT cost cutting can be felt, work efficiency takes a hit.

Poor Salary, Poor Career Development

Life / work balance could be challenging at times. Recurring lay offs. Some functions are understaffed.

Increment and bonus are little if any. Stagnant career growth and constant layoffs.

Recent layoffs has been a concern but most of the companies doing it these days.

Long shifts but well balanced out
