The Assistant Manager - Hostess at a Chinese Restaurant assists in the daily supervision of restaurant operations including Restaurants/Bars and Room Service if applicable. This role supports menu planning, maintains sanitation standards, assists servers and hosts during peak hours, and aims to continuously improve guest and employee satisfaction. The position includes handling employee questions, monitoring performance, supervising shifts, managing compliance with policies and local laws, and ensuring excellent customer service.
High school diploma or GED with 4 years of experience in food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area, OR a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major with 2 years of relevant experience.
Ability to handle employee questions and concerns.
Capable of monitoring employees to ensure performance expectations are met.
Skill in supervising daily shift operations and restaurant areas in the absence of higher management.
Ability to communicate clearly regarding departmental goals and operational issues.
Knowledge of restaurant policies, standards, procedures, and compliance with local laws including alcohol beverage service.
Capability to manage budgeted goals and perform duties of restaurant employees as necessary.
Experience in interacting with guests and managing guest feedback.
Competence in staffing level supervision to meet guest service and financial objectives.
Ability to coach and counsel employees and communicate performance expectations.
Skills in training initiatives and using on-the-job training tools.
Effective communication skills in various formats including telephone, written, email, and in person.
Problem-solving skills involving analysis and evaluation of information.
