This role involves supporting business operations by improving or configuring systems and developing new features for COBOL/mainframe applications. The developer will ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications by monitoring and analyzing system issues and providing recommendations to prevent recurrence. Additionally, the role includes maintaining or improving code quality, especially in testing automation, analyzing current technology trends to design new solutions, and keeping documentation and procedures up to date and efficient.
Job Requirements
Experience with COBOL and mainframe application development.
Ability to monitor, analyze, and report system performance and issues.
Skills in maintaining and improving code quality and automation, particularly in testing.
Awareness of current technology trends and the ability to design technology solutions.
Ability to document procedures and maintain development and production support documentation.
Strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes of system disruptions and recommend preventative measures.
Effective communication skills to work within IT teams and document processes.
